Carlton Square Hotel - Haarlem

A charming unexpected find

I especially enjoyed the charming decor and the breakfast spread that was a feast for the senses.

The walk back to the city center was a good 15 minutes, and I found the bed arrangement quite uncomfortable as it didn't match what was advertised. The noise from the corridor occasionally disturbed my peace.

Its rooms are well-equipped with comfortable bed.

It offers well-equipped and nicely decorated rooms with walk-in shower, balcony, dressing gowns...

1. Luxurious executive room, delicious breakfast buffet, well-stocked minibar

our rooms were brand-new and decent size here with a totally modernized bathroom, balcony overlooking a park, really good beds. the location was nice and absolutely perfect, not too far away from a superb museum.

The hotel was great, very comfortable and well run. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff was great, particularly for the money.

The only comment I have is that the website seemed to portray the hotel as very close to the Grote Markt, but it was further away than I initially thought.

Braw place! The breakfast offered a braw spread with fresh fruits, and the staff were pure brilliant—always ready to help. Only downside was the higher parking fees. Would definitely stay again!

A better than 4 star hotel at little more than a 3 star price. Some very nice little touches like a complimentary bar and fresh rose in the bathroom..

The room was very comfortable,clean and had all necessary facilities. Free internet access in the business centre was appreciated. Reception and room service was good.

The restaurant was not the standard of a four star hotel and was very disappointing. We had the "culinary special" dinner which was to celebrate 25 years of the Carlton Group. It was extremely poor and we did not have dinner in the hotel subsequently. Staff attention was variable and tables weren't cleared promptly at breakfast.

Here's why it's a mixed review

The staff were helpful and responsive! The bed was comfy and the view was decent.

Room updates are necessary, and parking fees can hit your wallet hard.

Breakfast was great. large variety and great coffee. Breakfast hall is beautiful. Staff was very friendly, we had our car vandalised in town and they were very helpful. Location is great, fairly quiet yet within 10 minutes walking distance of the beautiful historic centre of Haarlem.

The bathroom was outdated but functional.

Location close to bars and restaurants and restaurants round more chilled atmosphere than Amsterdam.

I stayed in a Standard Double or Twin Room with great decor and large comfy beds. The hotel offered bike rentals for easy exploration, handy. Unfortunately, the parking fees were higher than expected, leaving a bit of a sting in my budget.

We stayed at the hotel specifically to see the arrival of the flower parade. This was part of a longer holiday to see the bulbfieds etc.
